Best Buy CEO Picks Most
'Underrated' Gadget
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 28,
2011) -- Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn
has seen -- and used -- just about every gadget on the market.
But the head of the nation's largest CE retail business says one
product in particular is the industry's most underrated.
The Slingbox.
Dunn tells USA Today that the set-top, which transmits your home
TV signals to almost any device that has an Internet connection,
is his constant companion.
"I know it's not brand-new
technology," he says. But "wherever I go in the world, it's with
me — on my phone, my tablet, my computer, my son's dorm room —
it's like the greatest thing."
The Slingbox, which is owned by EchoStar, a sister company of
Dish Network, starts at $179.99. The set-top connects to your
home TV and transmits your TV's signals over the Net to your
computer, smart phone or tablet. It's a great tool for the
frequent traveler who wants to keep tabs with his local
channels.
Dunn, who lives in Minnesota, said he recently used the Slingbox
to watch a Minnesota Vikings game while on a business trip in
Boston.
