The movie, which was released last week on Blu-ray and HD DVD, has already sold more than 250,000 copies, according to Warner.
The studio says the sales numbers top the previous record holder, The Departed, which was also released by Warner Home Video. The Departed was the first movie to break the 100,000 sales mark in high-def disc sales.

300 will soon hit 300k in high-def sales.
‘"300’ is
an amazing film, and the High Definition sales we are seeing
underscores the positive business benefits of supporting both HD
DVD and Blu-ray,” said Ron Sanders,
president of Warner Home Video. “This
phenomenal response to 300 is the latest proof that our
approach makes the most sense in today’s
market and has enabled Warner Home Video to continue to lead the
market in high definition sales.”
Unlike four studio rivals, which are supporting Blu-ray
exclusively, Warner is releasing titles in both high-def disc
formats. The studio claims it has more than 30 percent market
share in the HDTV DVD category as a result.
The film 300, which is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller,
recounts the tale of 300 Spartans who fought the Persian army at
the ancient Battle of Thermopylae.
