Poll: DIRECTV vs. Fox - Both Are
At Fault!
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (October 27,
2011) --
Fox and DIRECTV have spent the past week pointing the finger of
blame at each other in their heated dispute over programming
fees. But a TVPredictions.com reader poll says that both
companies are at fault.
Before revealing
the poll numbers, a little background:
DIRECTV says Fox is asking for a 40 percent increase to carry
roughly two dozen Fox channels including FX, Fox Movie Channel
and 19 regional sports networks. Fox denies the 40 percent rate
increase, but says DIRECTV is unwilling to pay for the channels
its subscribers want most.
The two companies acknowledge that unless a deal is agreed to by
November 1, it's highly likely the channels will be removed from
DIRECTV's airwaves.
In a poll taken here
this week, our readers were asked the simple question: DIRECTV
vs. Fox: Who's Wrong?
48.2 percent of our respondents said both companies are at
fault. 26.98 percent said DIRECTV is wrong while 24.83 percent
said Fox is wrong.
The poll generated an intense reaction with 7,480 readers
voting. Voters who sided with Fox often said that they pay
nearly $100 a month for DIRECTV's programming and therefore
should continue to get Fox's cable networks.
DIRECTV's supporters frequently called News Corp. Chairman
Rupert Murdoch, whose company controls Fox, greedy for
requesting a rate increase in a down economy.
And voters who faulted both companies often commented that
DIRECTV and Fox both are multi-billion companies who don't care
about their customers.
