Feb. 26: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (February 26, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Friday, February 26, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

1. Winter Olympics
Daytime coverage today starts at 3 p.m. with the men's hockey semifinal: USA vs. Finland. Primetime coverage features speed skiing and the bobsled.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of skier Lindsey Vonn.
Primetime coverage starts at 8 p.m. on NBC. Also see coverage during the day on NBC and other NBC-owned networks such as MSNBC, Bravo, etc.

2. NBA Basketball Doubleheader
Mavericks at Hawks, followed by Magic at Hornets.
ESPN, 7 p.m.

3
. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
Angelina Jolie stars as a skin-tight leather-wearing adventurer who must find Pandora's Box before a mad scientist can use it to rule the world. (If you ask me, Jolie could rule the world with the outfits she wears in the film.) Jolie shines in this fun romp and future 007 Daniel Craig carries his weight as her male thorn in the side, although I'm sure he would have preferred to put his male thorn elsewhere.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Angelina Jolie.
Showtime West, 7:30 p.m.

4. The 41st NAACP Image Awards
The here-to-now unknown Anika Noni Rose and Hill Harper (unknown but alliterative) host the annual celebration of black artists and leaders; Wyclef Jean will get the Vanguard Award while Tyler Perry (hopefully not in drag) will receive the NAACP Chairman's Award. Former White House 'Green' Czar Van Jones will also get an award, but not for his historical expertise on the causes of 9/11.
Fox, 8 p.m.

5
. Ghost Whisperer (new)
Jennifer Love Hewitt, America's favorite big-breasted, ghost-gabbin' gal, tonight chats up Eli's mother who's been dead for 10 years. Huh, sounds like an episode of The Larry King Show; his guests have been dead for 10 years, too.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Jennifer Love Hewitt.
CBS, 8 p.m.

6. Real Time With Bill Maher (new)
The pasty-faced pundit is back with new episodes. Tonight's guests include House's Olivia Wilde and
Chrystia Freeland, the managing editor of the Financial Times, who occasionally talks out of her hat but sounds like she talks out of her nose.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Olivia Wilde.
HBO, 10 p.m.

7. Spartacus: Blood and Sand (new)
Program descript: "
After winning in the arena, Spartacus is told he will be reunited with his wife." Yeah, how did that work out for you, Kirk Douglas?
Starz, 10 p.m.

8
. The Woodie Awards
No, it's not the annual AVN Awards. It's some MTV thing from last December with the lineup of presenters including such notables as
Leighton Meester, Pete Wentz, 3OH!3 (Scrabble winner!), Cyndi Lauper and Zooey Deschanel. And there will be performances from a bunch of college bands I've never heard of, but I'm told they deserve woodies, every last one of them!
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Leighton Meester.
Palladia, 10 p.m.

9. Late Show With David Letterman
Tonight's guests include Harrison Ford who will wander by to hawk his new film, Extraordinary Measures.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. Jimmy Kimmel Live (new)
Tonight's guests include Desperate Housewives' Dana Delaney who will wander by and talk about kissing Julie Benz in the next episode of DH.
ABC, 12:06 a.m.
