March 5: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

Washington, D.C. (March 5, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

 Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Friday, March 5, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 2 of them!

 1. Revolutionary Road
 Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite as two suffocated suburbanites in 1950s Connecticut who can't seem to figure life out. The plodding plot is lifted by outstanding performances from the Titanic duo and the perceptive direction of Sam Mendes (married to Winslet.). The film feels like an uncomfortable snapshot of an all-too real time. Very good movie.
Cinemax, 6:30 p.m.
2. NBA Basketball Doubleheader
 Pistons at Cavs, followed by Hornets at Spurs.
ESPN, 7 p.m.
3. College Basketball
Kent State at Akron.
ESPN 2, 8 p.m.
4. Ghost Whisperer (new)
Jennifer Love Hewitt, America's favorite big-breasted, ghost-gabbin' gal, tonight investigates a missing bomb. No, it didn't use to be on NBC.

CBS, 8 p.m.

 5. Medium (new)
 Allison (Patricia Arquette) decides to take self-defense classes after she's mugged; wait a minute, she's a psychic -- she didn't see that mugger coming?

6. Real Time With Bill Maher (new)
Conservative media watchdog alert! The pasty-faced pundit is back with new episodes. And tonight's show features an All-Star lineup of insufferable liberals -- Arianna Huffington; filmmaker Michael Moore; and actor and occasional pugilist Sean Penn!
HBO, 10 p.m.

7. Spartacus: Blood and Sand (new)
Program descript: "After dealing with his wife's death, Spartacus must decide between being the champion gladiator or death." That's his choice? Hmmm....I think if I were him, I would take...champion gladiator? Yeah, that would be my choice. Champion gladiator over death every time.
 Starz, 10 p.m.

8. Mobsters
Did you like Denzel Washington as 1970s Harlem drug dealer Frank Lucas in American Gangster? Well, meet the real Frank Lucas tonight in this Bio doc.
 Bio, 10 p.m.

Jim Sturgess stars as a brilliant MIT student who's lured into joining a card-counting scheme in Las Vegas. Kevin Spacey plays the ring's mastermind while Kate Bosworth is Sturgess' obligatory hot girlfriend. Based on a real life story, the film crackles with tension due to strong performances from Sturgess (think of a young Dustin Hoffman) and the always interesting (albeit hammy) Spacey.

Starz Edge, 11 p.m.

9. Late Show With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include Matt Damon who will wander by to hawk his new film, Green Zone.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

 10. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
Tonight's guests include Morgan Freeman and Jason Reitman, the director of the Oscar-nominated Up in the Air.
