November 6: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

Washington, D.C. (November 6, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Friday, November 6, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

1. NBA Doubleheader
Cleveland and Lebron visit his future home (New York, where the Knicks play), followed by San Antonio at Portland at 10:30 p.m.
ESPN, 8 p.m.

2. M1 Affliction Challenge
The title sounds like a documentary on trying to cure the swine flu, but it's actually Mixed Martial Arts action between Team Russia and Team
Turkey. Team Turkey? That would be the Washington Nationals, wouldn't it?
HDNet, 8 p.m.


3. College Football

Boise State at Louisiana Tech.

. Ghost Whisperer (new)
Jennifer Love Hewitt, America's favorite big-breasted, ghost-gabbin' gal, tonight investigates the disappearance of a medical student.

5. Medium (new)
Tonight's program descript: "The SUV Allison rents has unusual features, including a satellite radio that allows her to hear other people's conversations." Hmm, I don't have that channel in my Sirius subscription; must be in the 'Best of XM' package.

6. American Gangster
Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe go toe-to-toe in this real life account of drug dealer Frank Lucas (Washington) who ruled the streets of Harlem in the 1970s. Carla Gugino plays cop Crowe's obligatory hot ex-wife. Absorbing, never-dull drama from arguably Hollywood's most underrated director, Ridley Scott.

HBO, 9 p.m.


7. Changeling
Clint Eastwood's masterpiece about a woman (Angelina Jolie) in 1920s Los Angeles who searches for her real son after the police return an imposter. Jolie is brilliant and heartbreaking, proving once again that she's among our top actresses when she's not too busy preening before photographers or adopting Cambodian babies by the dozens. Based on a true story (the movie, not Jolie's real life.)

HBO Signature, 9 p.m.


8. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Tonight, Jay chats up the beautiful Elizabeth Banks who will wander by to hawk her guest starring appearance in Modern Family on ABC on November 18.

NBC, 10 p.m.

9. The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien (new)
Tonight's guests include science challenge winners. Oh, boy, that will juice up the ratings.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.

10. Late Show With David Letterman (new)
Tonight's guests include the great Ricky Gervais who will wander by to hawk his new film, The Invention of Lying, and his hosting duties at the Golden Globes. Meanwhile, the carnal-minded host will occasionally look backstage for some golden globes of his own.
