December 11: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 11, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Friday, December 11, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 5 of them!

1. College Football
William & Mary at Villanova.
ESPN 2, 8 p.m.

2. NBA Basketball
Portland at Cleveland.

ESPN, 8 p.m.

3. M1 Affliction Challenge
The title sounds like a documentary on trying to cure someone afflicted with the swine flu, but it's actually Team England vs. Team Russian Legion in the semi-finals.
HDNet, 8 p.m.

4.
Dollhouse (new)
Eliza Dushku stars as Echo, an 'off-the-grid' operative who takes on a different identity each week. Tonight, Echo tries to control her multiple memory downloads, of which at least 80 percent have her playing a woman with loose morals.

Also tonight, Summer Glau, fresh from her cancellation of Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is back as Bennett, the mysterious programmer.

Fox, 8 p.m.

5
. Obsessed
Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from The Wire) stars as a smooth corporate executive and family man whose life spins out of control when a beautiful office temp turns into a temptress. Al Larter (Heroes) plays the obligatory hot temp while Beyonce Knowles also stars as Elba's obligatory hot wife. The film is as predictable as it gets, but the eye candy is sweet and the final 'cat fight' between Larter and Knowles is worthy of the WWE.

Starz, 8:10 p.m.

6. Medium
Allison and her family try to cope with her recent brain surgery.
CBS, 9 p.m.

Bonus Picks:
The Strangers
Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman star as a young couple who are terrorized by a band of thugs who take over their home. Tyler shines (and screams) as the obligatory hot damsel in distress in this impressive directorial debut from Bryan Bertino. Based on a true story; it will spook you out.

HBO, 10 p.m.

Drag Me to Hell
Alison Lohman shines as a mousey bank loan officer whose life turns into a living Hell when she rejects an old gypsy's request for an extension on her mortgage. Justin Long ("Mac" from the Mac/PC commercials) delivers a sympathetic ear as her boyfriend while the underrated David Paymer is superb as the obligatory cold-hearted bank manager. But the real star is writer/director Sam Raimi who turns a worn horror plot into a clever satire of the struggle to survive in tough economic times.
