By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (December 30,
2011) -- High-Definition TVs are
now in more than 50 million U.S. homes and there are scores of
high-def programming choices.
But which shows should you watch? And why?
Every day here at
TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up
10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them.
Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all
there and in beautiful high-def.
We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they
are for Friday, December 30, 2011. (All times Eastern -- and
don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact,
today there are 7 of them!)
Bonus Picks:

the Insight Bowl.

See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Yvonne
Strahovski.
NBC, 8 p.m.
3. A Gifted
Man
Patrick Wilson (Watchmen)
plays a surgeon whose life is changed forever when he's visited
by the ghost of his deceased ex-wife. Man, you get divorced and
still can't away from her? Wonder if this means he still has to
pay alimony? Tonight's program descript: "Michael (Wilson)
turns to Anton for help with a patient who hears voices." I see,
not so gifted tonight, huh Michael?
CBS, 8 p.m.
4.
Transformers
Shai
LaBeouf and Megan Fox star in this Michael Bay-directed CGI
spectacular about two races of robots who decide to battle it
out to the death. No, not the Democrats and Republicans; not
those robots; the metallic kind. Although the movie is aimed at
the teen set, it's fun for the entire family -- and it provided
a career for Ms. Fox, which is no small achievement.
See our 'HD
Hottie' profile of Megan Fox.
TNT, 8 p.m.
5. V for Vendetta
The
futuristic film about a band of freedom fighters opposing a
totalitarian government is a bit
overripe but it crackles with energy and sensational colors.
With the beautiful Natalie Portman in a starring role, that
doesn't hurt, either. (Don't miss the scene when she mistakenly
enters a room full of showgirls.) On a big screen, this is one
gorgeous spectacle.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Natalie
Portman.
BBC America, 8 p.m.

6. NBA
Basketball Doubleheader
Phoenix at New
Orleans, followed by the Bulls at the Clippers.

7. College Basketball

8. Dateline
(new)
The investigative crew tonight
probes a 25-year-old murder case involving a love triangle.
NBC, 10 p.m.
Bonus Pick:
Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro is brilliant in
the title role in Marty Scorsese's classic study of urban
alienation. If you haven't seen it, don't miss it. It will scare
the devil out of you. (It will also give you pause before you
ever hail a cab in New York again -- if you don't already give
pause, that is.) Harvey Keitel, Peter Boyle, Albert Brooks, a
teenaged Jodie Foster and an obligatory hot Cybill Shepherd are
all great in support.
Encore, 11:30 p.m
9. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno
Tonight's guests include Charlize Theron in an encore performance. Encore!
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Charlize Theron.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
