By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (September 3, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Friday, September 3, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 4 of them!

1. U.S. Open Tennis
Second round play for the men and third round for the women.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Maria Sharapova.
ESPN 2, 7 p.m.

2. Who Do You Think You Are?

Brooke Shields in a show called, "Who Do You Think You Are?"  What is this? A doc on what Brooke said to Tom Cruise following his comments on postpartum depression. No, no, no. It's actually a doc on Brooke's quest to find her heritage.

NBC, 8 p.m.

3.
Saving Private Ryan
The Steven Spielberg helmed WWII film is breathtaking and scary as hell in high-def. In Dolby 5.1, the bullets seem to be flying over your head in the opening depiction of the great battle on D-Day. Never has war look so authentic on film. Stars Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Edward Burns and a cast of thousands.
TNT, 8 p.m.

4. MLB
Baseball
Reds at Cards or Braves at Marlins.
MLB Network, 8 p.m.

5. College Football
Arizona at Toledo.
ESPN, 8 p.m.

6. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Director Michael Bay stuffed this sequel with even more CGI effects than the first Transformers. But Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox (talk about a special effect) make for a winning pair as they try to save the Earth from the creepy metallic monsters. Fun for the entire family, albeit dumb fun.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Megan Fox.
HBO, 8:30 p.m.

7. Glastonbury 2010

Performers at the UK festival include Snoop Dogg, Shakira and Vampire Weekend.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Shakira.
Palladia, 10 p.m.

8.
Drag Me to Hell
Alison Lohman shines as a mousey bank loan officer whose life turns into a living Hell when she rejects an old gypsy's request for an extension on her mortgage. Justin Long ("Mac" from the Mac/PC commercials) delivers a sympathetic ear as her boyfriend while the underrated David Paymer is superb as the obligatory cold-hearted bank manager. But the real star is writer/director Sam Raimi who turns a worn horror plot into a clever satire of the struggle to survive in tough economic times.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Alison Lohman.
HBO 2 West, 11 p.m.

9
. Late Show With David Letterman
Tonight's guests will include Tom Hanks in an encore performance.
CBS, 11:35 p.m.

10. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
Tonight's guests include comic Louis C.K.
NBC, 11:35 p.m.
