Black Friday: 32-Inch HDTVs For $149?
Washington, D.C. (September 18,
likely sell 32-inch LCD HDTVs for as low as $149 this Black
Friday, predicts GottaDeal.com, the web site that tracks online
and retail discounts.
The site, which annually makes Black Friday predictions, says
that 720p 42-inch sets will likely be available for as low as
$249 with 47-inch and 50-inch LCD and LED models available for
around $399 and $449 respectively.
GottaDeal says 42-inch, 1080p sets will likely be available for
around $349 or less.
Retailers traditionally offer
deep discounts on the day after Thanksgiving, better known as
Black Friday, the unofficial start of the holiday shopping
season. (Black Friday this year will be November 23.)
The discount prices are often available for one day only -- and
may include restrictions on time and supply. Discount hunters
also have to contend with the frenzied atmosphere of Black
Friday which some shoppers view as a day of combat.
GottaDeal.com also says 3D sets may see some "deep discounts"
this year as TV makers try to reduce inventory in the category
that has seen disappointing sales.
TVs have been on the market long enough that Black Friday
shoppers may finally start seeing some deep discounts on older
3D models this year," the site says.
GottaDeal says it based its predictions on staff and reader
input. While the site notes that HDTV prices will be discounted
on Black Friday, it notes that higher quality, name-brand sets
may see even better deals in early December.
"While Black Friday is a great
time to buy the loss-leader, lower-end HDTVs, for consumers
looking for a deal on a higher quality, name-brand HDTV, the
best time to buy is typically in early to mid-December as
retailers tend to ramp up the deals to get those last minute
sales before the holidays. And if shoppers miss those deals, the
pre-Super Bowl TV deals are also very attractive every year,"
the site says.
GottaDeal.com also predicts that Blu-ray players will be
available on Black Friday for $39.
