HBO: All 26 Channels In HD
The network steps up its commitment to high-def.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (June 12, 2007) -- HBO has announced that it will make all 26 HBO and Cinemax feeds available in High-Definition.

The network already transmits some channels in high-def, including the East and West feeds of HBO and Cinemax.

But HBO says it will begin rolling out the additional high-def feeds later this year with all 26 completed by the end of the second quarter of 2008.

“We have a long history of firsts in technology – satellite, multiplex and SVOD. Such a commitment reinforces our tradition of giving our customers the best programming when they want it and how they want it. This move further solidifies HBO’s leadership in the premium category," said HBO CEO Bill Nelson.

The launch of HBO's high-def feeds does not guarantee they will find a place in every cable or satellite lineup.  However, TVPredictions.com has learned that DIRECTV will
carry 11 HBO/Cinemax high-def channels this September.

The 26 HBO channels that will be high-def by the second quarter of 2008 are:

HBO (East/West)
Cinemax (East/West)|
HBO2 (East/West)
MoreMAX (East/West)
HBO Signature (East/West)
ActionMAX (East/West)
HBO Comedy (East/West)
ThrillerMAX (East/West)
HBO Family (East/West)
WMAX (East)
HBO Zone (East/West)
@MAX (East)
HBO Latino (East/West)
5StarMAX (East)
OuterMAX. (East)
