The debate, which will focus on minority issues, is expected to include all eight Democratic candidates, including Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Sen. John Edwards (D-NC).
The event, which will take place at a high school in Des Moines, Iowa, could have a major impact on the Iowa Caucus, which is scheduled on January 3. The caucus is the first contest in the 2008 presidential contest.
Recent polls show Clinton, Obama and Edwards in a virtual tie among likely voters in Iowa.
HDNet, a 24-hour High-Definition network available on satellite and several cable systems, will begin coverage of the debate Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET with a preview show hosted by Dan Rather.
The debate, which will be moderated by Michele Norris of NPR and Ray Suarez of PBS. will take place at 8 p.m. ET.
Called the Iowa Brown & Black Forum, the debate will also include Sens. Joseph Biden (D-Del), Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Gov. Bill Richardson (D-New Mexico), Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and former Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska).
