HDNet to Air Final Shuttle Launch In HD
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (July 8, 2011)
--
HDNet today at 10 a.m. ET will air live, high-def coverage of
the NASA Space Shuttle Atlantis launch, the 135th and final
Shuttle mission in the NASA program.
HDNet's coverage will also mark its final broadcast of a NASA
launch. The high-def network has been providing coverage of the
space agency's missions now for five years and TVPredictions.com
has named the network's coverage one of the 10 best shows in
HDTV of all time.
To mark the special occasion, HDNet anchor Dan Rather will
moderate a special report on the future of space exploration
Tuesday, July 12, at 8 p.m. ET on HDNet.
Rather will be joined by
Walter Cunningham, Apollo 7 pilot; Leroy Chiao, Expedition 10
commander; Bobby Braun, NASA's chief technologist; and Ken
Bowersox a former astronaut and now VP of Astronaut Safety and
Mission Assurance at a private space company, SpaceX.
If weather permits, today's shuttle launch is scheduled for
11:26 a.m. The National Weather Service has forecast the
possibility of showers in the Cape Canaveral area, which could
delay or postpone the launch.
