Washington, D.C. (August 27,
2006)
-- HDNet, the High-Definition TV network, has signed
ex-basketball player Dennis Rodman to host a reality series.
That's according to an article in this week's Cable World
magazine.
Tentatively titled, Geek to Freak, the program is
scheduled to debut in January. No further details were provided.
Rodman, who played for the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit
Pistons, has a reputation for stirring controversy wherever he
goes.
Cable World reports that the Rodman show is part of
HDNet's overall strategy to persuade cable TV operators to carry
the channel.
HDNet is now available on DIRECTV, EchoStar and several cable
systems, including Time Warner Cable. However, Comcast, Cox and
Cablevision have yet to make deals with the channel.
"Our goal is to offer premium
cable programming with a limited number of commercials," HDNet's
co-founder Mark Cuban told Cable World.
HDNet earlier this year signed Dan Rather to host a weekly news
show, which debuts in October.
