The high-def debut came earlier this month.

The station says it's "the first and only" one in the Palm Springs market to go high-def with the news.
Known as News Channel 3 in the California Desert, KESQ made the switch to HD newscasts on April 20.
"In addition to studio video, you'll notice that News Channel 3 video shot in the field is also wide screen. We shoot all local video in wide-screen format and you'll notice the extra picture detail if you have a wide screen TV. Before implementing HD local news, we added 11 new, high-definition capable cameras to our news department at great expense," the station says at its web site.
The station has also updated the on-screen graphics for high-def.
There are now more than 80 local stations broadcasting the news in HD.
