Washington, D.C. (November 14, 2008) --
KCTV-TV, the CBS affiliate in the Kansas City area, has begun broadcasting local news programs in High-Definition.
The switch to HD news occurred last month, starting with the 4 p.m. newscast.
KCTV, channel 5 in the Kansas City area, is owned by the Meredith Corporation. With the launch, it became the third station in the market to broadcast local news in high-def. KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, made the switch last April while KMBC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Kansas City, begin broadcasting its news programs in High-Definition last year.
There are now more than 100 local stations broadcasting the news in HD.
