Are HDTV Prices About to Fall?
One report says a big Labor Day sale is coming.
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (August 21, 2008) -- Could the price of some Samsung High-Definition TVs be slashed by up to $300 in the next two weeks?

That's the conclusion of the web site, HD Guru, which quotes "industry sources" as saying that the big discounts will be part of a Labor Day weekend sale.

Some retailers last month cut prices on several brands in an effort to boost sales during the economic downturn. But the HD Guru site says the new discounts will be specific to Samsung LCD sets.

However, the lower prices could force other TV makers such as Sony, Panasonic and Mitsubishi to cut their prices as well, which could lead to a price war similar to the one seen during the 2006 holiday season.
