TVPredictions.com

Washington, D.C. (March 19, 2010) -- MSG Network next Wednesday will broadcast the New York Islanders/New York Rangers hockey game in 3-D.

And Cablevision will provide a special 3-D channel for its subscribers to watch the game; of course, they will need a new 3-D set with the 3-D goggles.

The will be the first time a hockey game will be broadcast in 3-D. It will also be the first time that a TV operator has broadcast any program in 3-D.

Comcast last week appeared poised to be the first, announcing that it would air next month's Masters golf tournament in 3-D. But Cablevision will beat Comcast to the punch.

The New York Times reports that MSG will use five 3-D cameras for the broadcast.
