July 30: Monica Bellucci, The HD Hottie

Washington, D.C. (July 30, 2009) -- Following our extremely popular contest, 'HD Hottie Hysteria,' we've started a new feature in which we will highlight a top female star every day. The gorgeous female will come from a program that can be seen in gorgeous high-def that very day.

Today's 'HD Hottie' is Monica Bellucci, who co-stars tonight in high-def in Shoot 'Em Up at 7:30 p.m. ET on Cinemax West.

The 44-year-old actress, who was born in Italy, started as a model in the 1980s but began acting in the 90s in such movies as Bram Stoker's Dracula, Tears of the Sun (with Bruce Willis) and Brotherhood of the Wolf.

But it was her sexy turn as the temptress Persephone in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 that won her fame and fortune. She followed up that role playing Mary Magdalene in Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ and reprising Persephone the final Matrix film, Matrix Revolutions.

Her next film will be The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, which also stars Robin Wright Penn, and should be released in 2009.
