Washington, D.C.
(February 26, 2007)
-- Marriott International today will announce that it's
installing 32-inch LCD HDTVs at high-end hotels that can
connect to other devices such as laptops, iPods and
camcorders.
That's according to an article by USA Today.
The publication reports that guests will be able to use the high-def sets as a laptop monitor, a sound system for the iPod or a display for video and still images.
The hotel chain is expected to rollout the connected HDTVs over three years at Marriott, JW Marriott and Renaissance brand hotels. The company says 25 percent of its high-end hotels will have it by the end of this year.

The new HDTV will also have more channels, says USA Today, with an increase of 45 to 64.
Marriott's vision apparently is shared by other hoteliers. The newspaper reports that Hyatt is testing a 42-inch high-def set that has a plug-in panel for portable devices. And Hilton is expected to introduce a similar system this spring.
