The tennis great has been unable to play in recent months due to a rotator cuff injury. But she has returned to action and won her first two matches at this year's French Open. The 23-year-old tennis star was born in Russia, but moved to the United States at the age of seven to attend a tennis academy. She turned professional in 2001 and stunned the tennis world by winning Wimbledon in 2004, defeating the heavily-favored Serena Williams.
Blessed with stunning good looks, the blonde Sharapova has become one of sports' best-paid athletes thanks to endorsements deals with companies such as Canon, Colgate and Tropicana.
Maria is now on the comeback trail in the tennis world and is expected to be a tough competitor in this month's French Open.
