Jan. 28: Gretchen Mol: The HD Hottie
The actress stars tonight in Life on Mars.
By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (January 28, 2009) -- Following our extremely popular contest, 'HD Hottie Hysteria,' we've started a new feature in which we will highlight a top female star every day. The gorgeous female will come from a program that can be seen in gorgeous high-def that very day.

Today's 'HD Hottie' is Gretchen Mol, who stars tonight in high-def in
Life on Mars at 10 p.m. on ABC.

The 36-year-old actress, who was born in Deep River, Connecticut, started as a stage actress, but quickly captured the film and publishing world's attention for her exceptional blonde good looks. At least two magazines in the early 1990s (including Vanity Fair) dubbed her, 'The It Girl," suggesting that Hollywood directors would demand her for their movies. And, she was hired in the 1990s by such notable directors as Woody Allen for his movie Celebrity and Spike Lee in Girl 6.

But she probably received the greatest critical attention this decade for playing the title role in The Notorious Bette Page, based on the pin-up girl of the 1940s.

In the last few years, she has bounced around from one TV guest appearance to another. But this season she won the role of Annie, a detective in ABC's new cop series, Life on Mars.

So, here is Gretchen Moll, today's HD Hottie (from her role as Bette Page):
