There are now about 65 local stations offering high-def news.
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 4, 2007) -- KGW-TV, the NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregon, will switch to high-def newscasts on January 21, the station said today.

KGW says it will be the first Portland station to air local newscasts in High-Definition.

The Portland Business Journal reports that the station's studio has been redesigned for HD, including customized high-def graphics.

And The Willamette Week writes that the station is hiring a Texas consultant to help the anchors and reporters with their "on-air look."

There are now approximately 65 local stations offering local high-def newscasts.
