CNN Axes John King's 6 p.m. Show
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (June 14, 2012) --

CNN's likely primetime purge began yesterday with the cancellation of the ratings-starved John King USA in the 6 p.m. time slot.

The network said Wolf Blitzer's The Situation Room, which now runs two hours starting at 4 p.m., will expand to three hours, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m..

CNN's primetime ratings recently hit a 20-year low and reports have circulated that the network is contemplating wholesale changes to turn things around.

As for King, a veteran print and TV journalist, he will be a correspondent on The Situation Room as well as Anderson Cooper's AC360, which airs at 8 p.m. John King USA lasted just two years.
