Albuquerque CBS Station Switches to HD News

Washington, D.C. (August 16, 2010) -- KRQE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is now broadcasting its local news programs in High-Definition.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that it was the first station in the air to go HD with multiple local news programs. KASA-TV, a Fox affiliate in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area, and a sister station to KRQE, now does the daily 9 p.m. news program in high-def.

KRQE made the switch to HD newscasts last week.

"Everybody's digital now, and most stations can pass along some level of high-definition programming from their networks or from program suppliers, but nobody has originated high-definition newscasts until now," Bill Anderson, president and general manager of KRQE and KASA, told the newspaper "That's a whole other level of investment."
