WCBS is the third local New York station to go high-def with the news. WNBC and WABC had previously switched to HD news broadcasts.
A WCBS spokeswoman said all local newscasts will be in high-def. As of now, only WCBS studio segments are in HD, but she said field reports will go high-def in the fourth quarter of this year.

WCBS offers several newscasts each day, including the noon and 5 p.m. reports with anchor Kristine Johnson. Other on-air reporters include Sam Ryan, a former ESPN correspondent.
There are now approximately 40 local stations nationwide broadcasting the news in high-def.
