-- Microsoft has no plans to add a Blu-ray drive to its XBox 360
gaming console, writes Home Media Magazine.
There have recurring rumors that Microsoft will add a Blu-ray
feature to more effectively compete with Sony's Play Station 3,
which has a Blu-ray player inside the console.
But asked at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo if a Blu-ray
player was coming to the XBox, Jose Pinero, a spokesman for
Microsoft's interactive entertainment division, said:
"Today we are focused on the streaming aspects of XBox and
that's what we're building on. That's our strategy."
He was also asked if Microsoft has discussed the idea of adding
a Blu-ray player.
"At this point we are focused on XBox 360 and keeping it fresh
and new."
Microsoft, which has been busy adding new streaming and live TV
services to the XBox, now has more than 60 programming partners.
