Mitsubishi Offers Sneak Peek at 3D HDTV
The company's new 3D sets will be available next year.

TWICE Magazine reports that Mitsubishi's 3D system uses specially produced images to create the multi-dimensional effect for viewers wearing the correct glasses.
The 3D-enabled HDTVs, which will be available to consumers next year, will be on display at Bjorn's Audio Video store in San Antonio, the publication writes.
Mitsubishi hopes that the 3D system will boost sales of DLP sets which are lagging behind the LCD and Plasma flat-screen models.

Could 3D HDTV be coming to your house?
David Naranjo, a Mitsubishi product development director, told TWICE that the company believes 3D will dramatically enhance TV viewing, particularly for sports.
“We are looking to have live broadcast 3D events soon,” he said. “NFL games have been produced in 3D already, the NBA playoffs were shot in 3D back in April, and other events have included surfing and X Games events,” he said
Several Hollywood films, including A Nightmare Before Christmas, have been re-mastered for 3D and could also be displayed on the 3D-enabled set.
“A lot of producers and studios are telling us that this is so compelling to them that they want to move very quickly on it. Also, you can imagine the kind of traction this would give advertising," Naranjo said.
