Washington, D.C. (October 12, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Monday, October 12, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 8 of them!

1. Heroes
(new)
America's favorite (albeit quirky) super heroes are back! Tonight, the program descript says: "Claire thinks her roommate (Madeline Zima) has a hidden agenda." Hmm, if you listen to the buzz (or just simply look at the picture above), there's a lesbian kiss in that hidden agenda.

2. House (new)
The cranky doc is back on staff after that little bout at the detox clinic. Tonight's program descript: "A wealthy businessman insists that Dr. House treat his son." Hmm, he must have made his money in a non-medical field.

Fox, 8 p.m.


3. Dancing With the Stars (new)
America's favorite dancing soap opera continues with a B celebrity lineup overflowing with such has-beens and wanna-bes as Donny Osmond, Joanna Krupa, Melissa Joan Hart and Michael Irvin.
Kathy Ireland, Tom 'The Hammer' Delay, Debi Mazur and Ashley Hamilton have gotten the boot, but tonight the remaining 11 contestants go toe-to-toe with four new dances.

4. NFL Football
Jets vs. Dolphins.

5. Gossip Girl (new)

Jason Segel shines in this funny albeit frothy farce about a musician whose dream vacation in Hawaii goes wrong when he runs into his ex-girlfriend and her new lover. Kristen Bell plays the obligatory hot ex while Mila Kunis (That's 70s Show) plays the obligatory hot new love interest. Russell Brand and Bill Hader deliver the funny in support.

7. The Jay Leno Show (new)
Jaws is back -- and tonight he's got Dana Carvey (he's alive!) and Justin Timberlake.

Jamie Foxx who will wander by to hawk his new movie, Law and Abiding Citizen.

Tonight's guests include Garry Shandling and actress
Kaley Cuoco who will hawk her CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, while simultaneously trying to tell the carnal-minded host that she will not participate in his Big Bang Theory.
