-- High-Definition TV owners are more likely to respond
to TV commercials on non-HD channels than non-HD
viewers.
That's according to a new study from Jack Myers, publisher of the industry web site, MediaVillage.com.
The analyst examined whether HD owners were more likely to remember and respond to content and commercials on 60 non-HD television networks and 100 primetime network and cable programs.

According to Myers, the non-HD channels that scored highest in ad recall among high-def owners were: The Travel Channel, Telemundo, Country Music Television, The Learning Channel, VHI, WE, Fox News Channel and Discovery Health.
"Each of these networks scored at least 50 percent higher advertising impact ratings among viewers who use HDTV than total network viewers (adults 18-64)," Myers says.
However, while HD owners were more likely to remember ads on those channels, Myers said they were more "engaged" with content from HGTV, the Sci-Fi Channel, Discovery, TLC, ESPN and Court TV.
HGTV, ESPN and Discovery have high-def channels in addition to their non-HD channels.
The report said non-HD TV shows whose commercials scored highest among high-def owners were Family Guy (TBS); The Planet's Funniest Animals (Animal Planet); What About Brian (ABC); and Hogan Knows Best (VH1).
In other findings, Myers said 33 percent of HDTV owners say they watched more than five hours a day over the past 30 days.
