Comedy Central officials tell the publication that Cablevision will roll out the new channel to its local systems over a three day period, which is often the case for a new high-def launch for the cable operator.
"Comedy Central’s viewers are some of the earliest adopters of new technology and when they are not consuming content on the go, either online or on their phones, many of them are sitting in front of a High-Definition television, making programming decisions based on what's on in their high-def tier," Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless said, according to Multichannel News.
Comedy Central HD will offer roughly 200 hours of programming in true high-def, network officials said, including episodes of South Park.
The network said The Daily Show and The Colbert Report will initially be upconverted for the high-def channel, but will switch to true HD in the future.
