The syndicated show is scheduled to begin next fall.

Washington, D.C. (December 1, 2008) -- Dr. Mehmet Oz, better known as Dr. Oz, will debut his new syndicated show in High-Definition next fall, according to Broadcasting and Cable Magazine.

The publication reports that the program will be produced by Sony Pictures Television and Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions. Dr. Oz, who offers advice on a range of medical issues, got his first TV break appearing as a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

B&C writes that the Dr. Oz program will debut in at least 23 of the top 25 markets and will be produced in New York. The first episode will begin in high-def.

“We're thrilled with how the marketplace has received Dr. Oz,” said John Weiser, Sony Pictures' president of distribution. “He has an established brand and a connection with viewers and advertisers…everything stations are looking for.”

B&C reports that Dr. Oz is likely to focus on such issues as weight loss, nutrition, fitness, parenting, intimacy and stress.
