Panasonic's new 61-inch DLP rear projection HDTV is a
"mediocre offering" in a crowded field, according to a
review in this month's Sound and Vision magazine.
The Panasonic
PT-61DLX76, which
delivers 1080p HD, can be purchased for around $2,400, a
good price for a big-screen 1080p set. But the magazine
says "its picture quality falls short of its
considerable competition, making it less of a
bargain than it appears."
Sound and Vision also takes a few shots at the
set's design, saying it won't win any awards.
"It follows the lead of a lot of today's big screens
with unassuming cosmetics that amount to a giant screen
with a glossy black bezel surrounding it," the
magazine's reviewer wrote.
