The projector, which will display 1080p video, will cost thousands of dollars more than most other 1080p front projection devices. But Pioneer says the 'Elite KURO Projector' will “meet the needs of the most discerning entertainment connoisseurs."

Pioneer's new 1080p projector.
The company says the projector will offer the deepest black levels, a selling point in Pioneer's Plasma KURO models, which are also priced higher than its Plasma counterparts.
“Our customers are entertainment connoisseurs; they crave that total immersive experience that leaves you on the edge of your seat,” Pioneer's Russ Johnston, said in a statement. "The introduction of our new Elite projector is a perfect compliment to our KURO line of displays and answers a need within the market for high-end cinematic installations.”
The KURO projector (model PRO-FPJ1) will offer HDMI 1.3 connections, and LCoS 1080p resolution technology.
