And Quixel Research says in a new report that front projector sales are still rising despite the growing demand for the sleeker flat-screen set.
According to TWICE Magazine, Quixel reports that front projector unit sales increased four percent from the first quarter to the second quarter while revenues climbed eight percent.
“For many passionate home theater buffs, a front projector is the only way to have a ‘big-screen’ experience,” said Tamaryn Pratt, Quixel’s principal, reports TWICE. “Higher-resolution models have really shined a light on the category again. However, there are devotees at all price levels and now there are enough options, both well known and niche brands, that almost anyone can have an immersive experience in their home and even outdoors for that matter.”
Quixel said revenue from sales of 1080p HDTV front projectors jumped 37 percent in the second quarter compared to the first -- and more than 700 percent over the last year.
The 1080p projector now generates 36 percent of all front projector revenues.
