The network did not give a specific launch date today nor reveal any TV providers who will carry it. However, it will be the nation's first shopping channel to go high-def.
"HD is the next logical step in bringing our viewers enhanced programming," said Angie Simmons, QVC's senior vice president of broadcasting and TV sales. "The simulcast will provide stunning clarity, enabling us to bring our products to life."
Al Ulozas, QVC's senior vice president of affiliate sales, expressed confidence that the high-def channel will get picked up by cable and satellite operators.
"Our almost $200 million a year commission stream is very important to our distributors, and we anticipate that the carriage of QVCHD will only complement that performance," Ulozas said.
The company said the network is updating its "storefront" studio with new sets and graphics.
