Networks to Add Content Ratings to Online Shows
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (June 11, 2012) --

The major broadcast networks today will announce that they will include content ratings in streaming TV shows on their web sites starting this December, reports The New York Times.

The newspaper reports that the ratings, which tell viewers whether a show contains violence, sexual content or strong language, will be added to such sites as Fox.com and ABC.com. NBC, Fox, CBS, ABC, Telemundo and Univision are expected to participate in the program.

The Times notes that some streaming sites, such as Hulu, already offer content ratings in their programs.

While many viewers may not pay much attention to the ratings, which are usually featured in the left hand corner of the screen as a show begins, some parents find them useful in determining what their children can safely watch.
