Major League Baseball's plan to offer DIRECTV an
exclusive to broadcast its 'Extra Innings' package has
generated a storm of controversy. And the readers of
TVPredictions.com are not happy with the idea either.
In an online survey conducted over the last two days, 71.4 percent of our readers said that MLB's Extra Innings should not be a DIRECTV exclusive.
Nearly 27 percent said they approve the exclusive arrangement while about two percent said they didn't have an opinion.
Nearly 1,200 readers voted in the survey. While the poll is not scientific, the result does reflect the growing unrest surrounding the proposed deal.

MLB is reportedly close to giving DIRECTV the exclusive rights to air the Extra Innings package, which includes up to 60 out of market games each week.
However, some lawmakers and media critics have blasted the proposed deal, saying it would deny cable (and EchoStar) viewers an opportunity to see the games.
The TVPredictions.com poll results are somewhat surprising because the site focuses on the High-Definition industry. And, in a seven-page letter DIRECTV sent last week to the Federal Communications Commission defending the proposal deal, the satcaster said that most of the Extra Innings games would be broadcast in high-def by next season.
However, apparently, TVPredictions.com readers who subscribe to cable or EchoStar are not interested in switching to DIRECTV to get the expanded high-def coverage of the National Pastime.
