-- PC World Magazine says Samsung's 42-inch Plasma
HP-S4253 offers a
"reasonably strong image quality and great surround
sound."
The publication gives the flat-panel set, which is available online for around $1,400, a score of 77 out of a possible 100.
In review tests, PC World says the set scored high when playing a standard DVD.
"The HP-S4253 performed fairly well in our tests, with jurors awarding it particularly high scores on our DVD test," the magazine's review stated. "Colors and skin tones in scenes from our test movies, Seabiscuit and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King looked bright and accurate."

Samsung's HP-S4253 gets high marks for its HD and DVD pix.
The publication also praised the Samsung set for its high-def picture, but expressed concerns about its standard definition display.
"The Plasma also fared well with High-Definition content, though some jurors found that the HP-S4253 did better in darker scenes than in brighter ones. Standard-definition pictures, on the other hand, looked pixelated, and skin tones acquired a greenish hue," the review stated.
The Samsung Plasma also offered two HDMI connections; a built-in HD tuner; a screen burn-in protection feature; and integrated SRX surround sound.
However, it does not offer a CableCard slot.
