Previously, Sony offered
standard-definition movies on the Play Station Network.
Although Sony now offers Netflix video streaming on the PS3, the
addition of high-def movies from the six major studios will make
the gaming console a more potent competitor against the XBox and
Wii. The PS3 also has a Blu-ray player as well as the gaming
features.
“PlayStation Network is the first and only service to deliver High-Definition home entertainment from all six major studios, directly to consumers for download," said Sony's Peter Dille,
