HDTV Review: Sony's 46-Inch 1080p LCD
Consumer Reports gives high marks to the flat-screen set.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (December 10, 2006) -- Consumer Reports says Sony's new 46-inch LCD TV is a "worthy addition" to its high-end line of Bravia sets.

However, the price is high, too, ranging from $3,000 to $4,000 depending upon where you shop.

In a new review, Consumer Reports says the KDL-46XBR2 LCD, which can display HD in 1080p, delivers an "impressive picture quality...displaying exceptionally fine detail."

The publication, whose product reviews are highly respected in the industry, adds that the set offers "better than average" black levels for a LCD; warm colors and subtle brightness levels.

The Sony LCD also has three HDMI inputs and two component video jacks.

On the negative side, Consumer Reports says the edges of objects in some scenes were "slightly exaggerated." But it said the problem didn't detract from the set's overall excellent picture quality.

In summary, Consumer Reports says:

"Although pricey, this 46-inch Bravia LCD TV is stylish and offers a big 1080p LCD screen, excellent HD performance, and a full complement of connections and features."
