A Sony spokesman told TVPredictions.com today that a
"software issue" inside the device has forced the
company to postpone the release.
"We want to make sure that the end user has an enjoyable
experience (with the player) when it is released," he
said.
Sony was originally scheduled to launch the high-def DVD
player in late spring but then announced that it would
be October 25. However,
SonyStyle.com, the company's ecommerce site, posted
a note this week saying the device (model: BDP-S1) will not be
available until "on or about December 4, 2006."
The Sony spokesman confirmed that release date today.

same price as other Blu-ray players already on the
market.
