That's according to an article by TV Week.
The publication reports that Lucasfilm, the producer's production company, has confirmed that the animated series, The Clone Wars, will debut in the fall of 2008. The show will focus on the activities of the Star Wars characters in between episodes two and three of the film series.
The company did not reveal which network will broadcast the program, but it said its 22-minute episodes are being produced in high-def.
TV Week writes that a sneak preview of The Clone War was exhibited at a recent Star Wars convention, prompting a standing ovation at the end.
"We're not even thinking of it as TV animation, we're trying to think of this as great storytelling for all audiences," a Lucasfilm spokeswoman told TV Week.
Lucas is the executive producer of The Clone Wars, but about 300 Lucasfilm employees are working on the project, the publication said.
TV Week reports that Lucasfilm has previously hinted of a live action Star Wars TV series, but there's no evidence that production has begun. The Lucasfilm spokeswoman would only say that the company is working on additional TV series.
