Washington, D.C. (January 4, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 30 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Sunday, January 4, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- Eva Lorgoria of Desperate Housewives!

6. 24: Redemption (repeat)
Kiefer Sutherland stars in a two-hour lead-in to next week's opening episode of the show's seventh season. Tonight, Jack is in Africa hiding out from wussy U.S. officials, but a moral dilemma forces his hand! (Sorry, no Elisha Cuthbert tonight, guys, but she'll be back during the seventh season.)

Fox, 8 p.m.

7. Doomsday
Rhona Mitra (ex of Boston Legal) stars as a military commander who must fight a deadly virus that's spreading across the globe. A deadly virus spreading across the globe? Paris Hilton must be continuing her world tour.
Cinemax, 8 p.m.

8. Desperate Housewives
(new)
The wicked women of Wisteria are back with new episodes. Tonight, Edie (
Nicollette Sheridan) thinks Dave is acting strangely. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Eva Longoria.
ABC, 9 p.m.

9
. Cold Case
Kathryn Morris gets the skinny (and, boy, is she skinny!) on an auto mechanic who was murdered after winning the lottery. If you ask me, auto mechanics think they've hit the lottery every time someone brings in a car for repairs.
CBS, 9 p.m.

10. The Unit
Program descript: "Jonas plays a game of baccarat to win back the services of a CIA spy who went to the other side." A game of baccarat to win back a colleague? Yeah, the days of rendition and Gitmo are long gone.
