March 14: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Sunday, March 14, 2010. (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 4 of them!

Bonus Picks:

Winged Migration
This terrific French-produced documentary follows several schools of migratory birds as they fly thousands of miles away and then return when the weather improves. Surreal photography and subtle direction combine to make this a must-see for the entire family, particularly if you have cats. (See Snoopy, the HDTV-watching cat, in the above picture, watching Winged Migration..)
HDNet,
Noon.

Revolutionary Road
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite as two suffocated suburbanites in 1950s Connecticut who can't seem to figure life out. The plodding plot is lifted by outstanding performances from the Titanic duo and the perceptive direction of Sam Mendes (married to Winslet.). The film feels like an uncomfortable snapshot of an all-too real time. Very good movie.
MoMax, 12:30 p.m.

21
Jim S
turgess stars as a brilliant MIT student who's lured into joining a card-counting scheme in Las Vegas. Kevin Spacey plays the ring's mastermind while Kate Bosworth is Sturgess' obligatory hot girlfriend. Based on a real life story, the film crackles with tension due to strong performances from Sturgess (think of a young Dustin Hoffman) and the always interesting (albeit hammy) Spacey.

Starz 12:30 p.m.

1.  NHL Hockey
Caps at Blackhawks.
NBC, 12:30 p.m.

2. College Basketball
SEC tournament final.
ABC, 1 p.m.

3. College Basketball Doubleheader
Atlantic 10 tournament final, followed by the Big Ten tournament final.

CBS, 1 p.m.

4. College Basketball
ACC Tournament Final.
ESPN, 1 p.m.

5. NBA Basketball

6. NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show
Get your brackets out. March Madness officially begins...now!
CBS, 6 p.m.

7. 60 Minutes (new)
The grizzled veterans of broadcast journalism tonight examine the scandals of the subprime mortgage business.
CBS, 7 p.m.

8. The Pacific (new)
Series debut. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's long awaited 10-part series on WWII's last theater of war -- The Pacific -- begins tonight. Seen as a follow-up to the flawless Band of Brothers, some critics are giving The Pacific a rougher reception, although most say the series delivers an evocative portrayal of the men who closed history's most important war.

HBO, 9 p.m.

9
.
Desperate Housewives (new)
Program descript: "Katherine (Dana Delany) is still confused by her feelings for the town stripper Robin (Julie Benz from Dexter)." Well, that picture above suggests her confusion is clearing up. Heidi Klum also guest stars as herself; good casting, guys.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Julie Benz.

ABC, 9 p.m.

10. The Celebrity Apprentice (new)
Series debut. Donald Trump takes on former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in a hair-raising battle. Speaking of hair, Bret Michaels will also be on hand (and on guitar, I guess) as will Sharon Osbourne. Dear God, could they find at least one person that I don't hate!
NBC, 9 p.m.
