October 25: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (October 25, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Sunday, October 25, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 3 of them!

1
. Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix from Moscow.
NBC, 12:30 p.m.

2. Paul Blart: Mall Cop
Kevin James finally gets his breakout role as a pretentious but lovable security guard in a shopping mall. The movie is dumb, silly and devoid of social meaning -- but it's funny as hell. If you need a good laugh on a Sunday after a tough Saturday night, don't miss it.
Jayma Mays plays his obligatory hot girlfriend of interest.
Starz, 12:45 p.m.

3. NFL Football
Week seven of the regular season. Check your local listings for times and teams.
CBS, Fox, 1 p.m.

4. NASCAR Racing
The Tums Fast Relief 500 from Martinsville, Virginia.
ABC, 1:30 p.m.

Bonus Picks:
Halloween on Ice
Starring former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan. And if this is truly a 'Halloween on Ice" for Nancy Kerrigan, Tonya Harding and her ex-husband Jeff Gillooly will show up.
NBC, 4 p.m.

Juno
Ellen Page plays a wise cracking teenager who gets preggers and  becomes a surrogate Mom to a quirky suburban couple (Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman). The predictable plot is lifted by a career-making performance from Page who just may be the most exciting young actress to come along in years. Garner is also good as the yearning Mom-to-be.

See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Jennifer Garner.

HBO, 4:15 p.m.

5. 60 Minutes (new)
The grizzled veterans tonight investigate Medicare fraud, a subject that's likely of high interest to the 70something team of correspondents. (Hey, you don't see them doing stories on teen pregnancies, do you?)
CBS, 7 p.m.

6. MLB Baseball Playoffs
Angels at Yanks in game six.
Fox, 8 p.m.

7.
NFL Football
Cardinals at Giants.
NBC, 8:15 p.m.

8. Curb Your Enthusiasm (new)
Seinfeld co-creator Larry David is back with new episodes featuring his one-man rant against societal correctness-- and they're pretty, pretty, pretty funny, if you ask me. Tonight, Larry and Jerry (Seinfeld, that is) decide whether to incorporate Larry's real-life experiences into the reunion show. (What else could he write about?!)
HBO, 9 p.m.

Bonus Pick:
Desperate Housewives (new)
Program descript: "Gaby (Evan Longoria)
tries to prove that she is a responsible parent." Well, folks, that will take more than an hour. Lots more. Don't believe me; just look at the pictures with a click below.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of Eva Longoria.
ABC, 9 p.m.

9. Dexter (new)
America's favorite serial killer is back -- and he's hungry for more. Tonight, Rita wonders whether she truly knows Dexter; unless she's a homicide detective, she probably doesn't. And Dexter gets more curious about the Trinity Killer (another clue for good old Rita.)

Showtime, 9 p.m.

10. Mad Men
(new)
The wild and crazy Madison Avenue executives of the early 1960s are back, smoking, drinking and balling just like old times. Tonight, Betty (January Jones) goes on a trip with the kids and a former client returns to the ad agency. Uh-oh, sounds like it's sexual trysting time for Mr. Don Draper (Jon Hamm.) This guy gets laid more often than an ESPN correspondent.
See our 'HD Hottie' profile of January Jones.
AMC, 10 p.m. (Except not on DIRECTV, which apparently has a stick up its ass about carrying AMC in high-def.)
