December 6: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

Washington, D.C. (December 6, 2009) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

 Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Sunday, December 6, 2009: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 4 of them!

1. Ghost Town
Ricky Gervais is brilliantly funny as an acerbic dentist who suddenly can talk to the dead after undergoing a minor operation. (It's the Ghost Whisperer with saggier mammary glands; sorry Ricky.) Greg Kinnear shines as a tuxedo-clad ghost who begs the doc to break up his ex-wife's new romance while Tea Leoni plays the obligatory hot ex. (And she's very funny, too.)
Cinemax West, 11:45 p.m.

2. . Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix final from Tokyo.
NBC, Noon.

 3. NFL Football
 Week 13 of the regular season. Check your local listings for times and teams.
 CBS, Fox, 1 p.m.

 4. Skiing
The USSA Birds of Prey, Men's Alpine.
NBC, 2 p.m.

 5. 60 Minutes (new)
 The grizzled veterans tonight interview former NBA referee Tim Donaghy who discusses betting on league games -- and serving time in prison. Yes, one led to the other.
 CBS, 7 p.m.

Taken
Liam Neeson stars as an ex-government operative who's forced back into the field when his daughter is kidnapped in Paris. Maggie Grace plays the obligatory hot daughter while Famke Janssen is almost unrecognizable as Liam's bitchy ex-wife. Despite Neeson's advancing years (he's 57 now), his early days as an amateur boxer serves him well here and the action is fast paced. Good movie.

George Michael: Live In London (new)
Well, better that than live in a bathroom.

6. NFL Football
Vikings at Cardinals.

7. Desperate Housewives (new)

8. Dexter (new)
America's favorite serial killer is back -- and he's hungry for more. Tonight, Showtime is being a little secretive about the plot, but we're guessing that the Trinty Killer has a few surprises in store for old Dex.

9. Californication (new)
Hank, a sex-addicted Hollywood type played by a real-life sex-addicted Hollywood type (David Duchovny), tonight engages in a duel with his boss. Well, he's involved in a duel of sorts with every female in the cast.
Showtime, 10 p.m.

10. The Wrestler
Mickey Rourke is eerily dead-on as a washed-up, alcoholic professional wrestler whose life is a series of body slams in and out of the ring. Marisa Tomei plays his obligatory hot "girlfriend" -- as well as being a stripper with a heart of gold. Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen, Across the Universe) breaks hearts as Rourke's alienated daughter. Great movie.
