Swanni's 2008 Predictions: HDTV Prices
The high-def guru kicks off his forecasts for the coming year.
By Allison Moore
HD Diva
Swanni says that although HDTV set prices have dropped more than 30 percent in the last year, they will be relatively stable in 2008. Still hurting from those sharp discounts in 2006-2007, TV makers and retailers are determined to keep their profits up next year. Consequently, they will introduce more 1080p HDTVs, which carry larger price tags, to keep the average high-def set price higher. So Swanni tells consumers that they shouldn't wait if they see a great deal now.; the price probably won't be better anytime soon.
