That's according to a new report from the research firm OneTrak.
Verizon, which has roughly 500,000 TV subscribers nationwide, is now available in 12 states.
Multichannel News reports that OneTrak studied Verizon's new customer base in 34 Massachusetts communities and found that a disproportionate number of subs came from DIRECTV and EchoStar.
Verizon signed up 11,982 customers in the 34 communities -- Comcast lost 5,216 subscribers after the telco launched service; cable "overbuilder" RCN lost 1,813; and DIRECTV and EchoStar lost 4,600, according to OneTrak.
While Comcast lost slightly more subs than DIRECTV and EchoStar combined, the cable operator has roughly twice as many subscribers as the satcasters. So the proportionate loss was far greater for the satellite TV services.
