July 22: Swanni's 10 Hottest Shows In HDTV!

Washington, D.C. (July 22, 2010) -- High-Definition TVs are now in more than 40 million U.S. homes and there are scores of high-def programming choices.

But which shows should you watch? And why?

 Every day here at TVPredictions.com, I scan the HD programming aisles and serve up 10 programs so good -- so hot! -- that you can't miss them. Sports, movies, primetime comedies and drama -- they're all there and in beautiful high-def.

We call this list, "The Hottest Shows in HDTV!" And here they are for Thursday, July 22, 2010: (All times Eastern -- and don't forget the link below to today's 'HD Hottie -- in fact, today there are 4 of them!
1. MLB Baseball
 Royals at Yanks or Twins at Orioles.
 MLB Network, 7 p.m.

2. WNBA Basketball
 Los Angeles Sparks vs. Indiana Fever. Sounds hot.
ESPN 2, 7 p.m.

3. Revolutionary Road
 Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet reunite as two suffocated suburbanites in 1950s Connecticut who can't seem to figure life out. The plodding plot is lifted by outstanding performances from the Titanic duo and the perceptive direction of Sam Mendes (married to Winslet during the filming; now they're splitsville.). The film feels like an uncomfortable snapshot of an all-too real time. Very good movie.
Cinemax West, 7:30 p.m.

4. Softball: 2010 World Cup
 Canada vs. United States.
ESPN, 8 p.m.
5. Wipeout (new)
ABC's quest to prove it can be just as trashy as Jeff Zucker's NBC continues tonight with its latest game show in which contestants are smacked, bopped and slammed into various bodies of water. Tonight, the network says the contestants will face off against the Trick Stairs and Fling Set. Trick stairs; flings. Sounds like a typical Saturday night in Vegas to me. (Mercury Ford ad babe Jill Wagner, pictured above, is the show's co-host.)

6. So You Think You Can Dance (new)
 Fox climbs on board the reality dancing bandwagon with the second season of So You Think You Can Dance. Hosted by Cat Deeley. Who? Cat Deeley! Tonight, another contestant will be eliminated. Oh, the humanity! Plus, Enrique Iglesias will perform. Oh, the humanity!, part two.

Fox, 9 p.m.
7. Rookie Blue (new)
ABC's summer series which chronicles the lives of five rookie cops Tonight finds Andy (Missy Peregrym) and Traci investigating a home invasion.

Bonus Pick:
The Girlfriend Experience
Real life porn star Sasha Grey stars as a high-class New York prostitute who undresses her customers psychologically by serving up what's known in the trade as the 'girlfriend experience.' Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the film has little real purpose, but is still irresistible thanks to a surprising performance from Grey and a slice-of-life manner that leaves you thinking that you're watching the real thing. But we're not, are we, Steven?

8. MLS Soccer
San Jose Earthquakes at Los Angeles Galaxy.
ESPN 2, 10:30 p.m.
9. The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (new)
